It is my pleasure to welcome you to English I! I look forward to meeting you. This blog is one method I plan to use to communicate with you and your parents this year.
As school begins, we will study World Literature, including novels, short stories, poems, and plays. You will also learn many methods you can use to improve your writing skills. One way you can begin is to comment on this blog by sharing an observation regarding your summer break. Where did you travel? Whom did you visit? Did you attend any camps? Is there anything else about your break that you’d like to share? Please share your comments on this blog.
Before we can use blogs as a means of comunication , we need to review the following policies and procedures.
Blogging Courtesy and Safety Rules:
Remember that when you respond to a blog, you should use your best writing skills and observe all rules of courtesy.
Never use your full name. Use only your first name or your initials. Do not give out ANY personal information, like your address or school or specific activities.
Please refer to your school handbook for the guidelines and acceptable use policies (AUP) regarding the use of school computer networks and the Internet. These terms identify acceptable online behavior and access privileges. Students are required to adhere to these policies.
Never post any personal information on a blog. Do not post any photos of you, your family, your friends, or your classmates, etc. Even email addresses should not be made public on the blog.
Information and ideas on the blog must be related only to the literature you are reading for school or assignments posted by your teacher.
All students and teacher should be careful and conscious about what they write because blogs exist the Internet, which is a very public place. Post only what you want the world to see. This means that writing should be school-appropriate, respectful, and free from harmful, hateful, or offensive language.
The teacher has administrative rights to delete your comments before the rest of the class views them if any material is not appropriate in any way. Consequences follow bad choices.
If you have any questions regarding these policies, please let me know. I look forward to reading your comments as the year progresses!
